Non-Duality
Rupert Spira posted a phenomenal 'meditation' video entitled "Guided Meditation: You Cannot Have Your Cake and Eat It."
Rupert is known for his deep investigations of the self, right down to the very nature of our core presence, which we can call our "naked being." Recently, he has been applying his unique style of introspection to beauty and love. In this meditation, he explores the connection between the true Self, the pure being, and the love that wells up within the self when one becomes empty or transparent.
In his own words:
'Vivartavāda is the idea that the world is an illusion – it is real but not what it appears to be. It just appears to us the way it does because we view it through the lens of perception. And this is the level on which most of the highest non-dual teachings are given. 'Ajātivāda is the highest non-dual understanding and is rarely spoken of. It is the idea that there is no creation, no world, no universe – that nothing exists.
There is not even the appearance of a world from this point of view. This seems to conflict so profoundly with our experience that it is considered too profound even to speak of. 'I want to try and say something about this ultimate point of view to try to somehow bring it into our experience so that it's not just some abstract philosophical idea that is beyond our comprehension. And in order to do so, I get to use a very well-known colloquial English saying, namely: "You cannot have your cake and eat it." You might be surprised to learn that it contains the highest non-dual understanding.'
